A New York woman is facing up to 25 years in prison after being found guilty in a violent domestic incident that left her boyfriend permanently injured.

A jury convicted 35-year-old Keyonna Waddell of first-degree assault and criminal possession of a weapon following an attack that prosecutors described as both deliberate and devastating.

The Incident

According to court testimony, the incident took place on March 22, 2024, after an argument between Waddell and her boyfriend. Authorities say Waddell threw a stick of dynamite into the victim’s bedroom while he was asleep.

The victim awoke to a hissing sound and noticed a flame on the floor. In an attempt to prevent further damage, he tried to extinguish the device but was unsuccessful. When he picked it up to throw it outside, the explosive detonated in his hand.
